With all of the work we have been doing lately with technology, I haven’t had a lot of time to share with you news concerning research and goings-on related to cancer. There are 3 things I want to share with you, 2 of which relate directly to the work you’re doing.
1. Did you know Steve Jobs is a cancer survivor? Sure is. He underwent surgery in 2004 to have a rare form of pancreatic cancer removed and is very lucky to be alive. I didn’t really know a lot about the pancreatic cancer procedure, but as you can see above, it’s a pretty gruesome process. You can read the article I did about it by clicking here.
2.Brown Cancer Center Licenses Cancer Vaccine. This is a HUGE deal! Cervical cancer is a very dangerous form of cancer and is almost always fatal in the developing countries. This vaccine is very expensive to administer, 360$ a treatment. Brown Cancer Center could deliver this for only 3$ a treatment USING TOBACCO PLANTS TO GROW THE VACCINE !! Right here in Kentucky, too. Who said we couldn’t do things in Kentucky? More information on this development by clicking here.
3.Brown Cancer Center Receives $10.1 Million to Continue Research. Again, this is a big development for the state of Kentucky. This is going to help Dr. John Trent and the researchers they work with continue their work. It’s important you know the grid is a big part of many of the grants the Brown researchers write to the federal government. With the power of the grant helping them power their research, it helps the researchers beat out other researchers for federal funding that is always very competitive. You can read more about this by clicking here.
